This young chef born in 1983 began scrubbing pots and pans when he was 15, then studying hospitality at 16, working in luxury hotels on the island and later on in Condes de Barcelona Hotel. He returned to his homeland to work and learn under the command of Marc Fosh at the Read`s hotel where he firmly cemented the bases of his cuisine. Hence the hotel Son Brull, were he was trained on Mallorcan finest cuisine and Espai&Sucre, which opened his eyes to the creativity of the world of desserts.
In 2008 he landed in Ferrán Adria’s Bulli … a restaurant out of this world. Product, creativity, innovation .. In short, the best restaurant in the world in 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Any young chef’s dream.
Chef of the restaurant El Pi de Formentor Barcelo for 3 seasons, with winter stays in Europe and America, experience in Kuwait in hospitality businesses belonging to the Royal Family … and finally his own restaurant.
In April 2011, Andreu Genestra restaurant opens its doors at the hotel are Jaume II in Capdepera, Majorca. After only three years the Michelin guide gives him a star and the Repsol guide recognizes its quality with a Sun.
6,000 square meters of kitchen-garden provide the restaurant with local Mediterranean vegetables. A lovely setting to sample dishes and taste Mallorca in every bite.
